About Steve

Steve was born and raised on a dairy farm in the Musquodoboit Valley where his family has been established for more than 150 years. Steve Streatch knows the value of hard work and commitment. With a keen entrepreneurial spirit, Steve has been involved with the multi-generational family business for many years.

During his school years, he also initiated several small business ventures. After graduating from Musquodoboit Rural High School, he attended community college in Truro and soon entered the family business on a full time basis.

He is active in the agricultural and telecommunications sectors, and is the Vice President of Sunberry Cranberry Farms Limited. He also continues his position as President of Streatch Communications Inc.

In 1999, shortly after the amalgamation of the Halifax Regional Municipality, Steve Streatch stood for election to the Halifax Regional Council, where he has successfully been re-elected three times. Mr. Streatch was elected Deputy Mayor in 2003 by his colleagues, the youngest member of council to hold that position.

As a family man, father of five and grandfather, Steve has been a very active member of his community supporting many community organizations and events such as The Bicentennial Theatre, the Riverside 4-H Club, Lions Clubs of Canada and, as well, the Halifax County Exhibition.

He is currently a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #147.

Steve and his wife Marilyn currently live on the family farm in Elderbank with their family.
